Happy 1st Anniversary!!

This weekend is Brother Boyd's Anniversary -- so we wanted to make sure they got the complete blog experience! And with such a romantic wedding photo - we just had to share it with our blog audience!

Hope that you both are back in NYC and get to enjoy some time together (and with the puppy!)

Happy Anniversary, Amanda & Paul.

LAPD - A Great Experience

Last week, Scott went to Los Angeles to spend the week with some officers from the LAPD. The officers he met with treated Scott and the other Detective he was travelling with very nicely. They went on a ride-along with members of their gang unit and met some great contacts that will be very useful for future projects by both police agencies.
The LAPD has three (3) training facilities. We toured the oldest one that is still fully operational. They have a huge outdoor gun range with 40 shooting bays.

There was a Mountain Bike Course taking place during the visit. I was an Acting Sergeant of a Mountain Bike Team in Calgary a few years ago & seeing how much fun the bike officers were having on their obstacle course made me miss that excitement!

We also made time for some fun tourist activities. The LAPD guys took us to some night time hotspots & we got to see the Hollywood Star Walk -- my hands are the same size as Tom Hanks!

We also managed to squeeze some time in @ Universal Studios! Great rides, stunt shows and tons of people watching!

The park was virtually empty and we didn't have long to wait in any line-ups. It gave us some time to stop and say 'hi' to Ms. Munroe.

All in all, a productive week. I have lots to bring back to share with my team and the +24 sunny days gave my Spring tan a jump-start! But it sure was nice to come back on Saturday and be home with Katie for a few days!

Have A Great Week Everyone!

Weekend Visit

We were on Vancouver Island this weekend visiting family. A few days in Nanaimo (Happy Birthday Heather & Colin!) and then a few days in Port Alberni with Scott's parents -- with a great dinner visit @ Little Barvaria - the best German Cuisine this side of Europe...so yummy!

We had great fun playing everything and anything to do with Knights, Castles, Dragons with our nephews! Scott does a great impression of "If I were King of the Forest" from The Wizard of Oz and while the boys don't always understand his craziness - Katie always laughs!!

On Saturday we had a hike in Piper's Cove & had fun climbing rocks, exploring for crabs and being some of the King's "scouts" in the enchanted forest! Such great fun and not a lot of rain. Time goes by too quickly but we were very happy to have had the chance to get to see everyone!

Katie is back in Portland and Scott heads to a conference with the LAPD -- (at least we'll be in the same country this week! xo)

More Blog Action upon our return next weekend!

Fun with Facial Hair!

Ever since Scott has been working with his surveillance team I have been begging him to grow a handlebar mustache. After several months of harassment he finally agreed that he would wear the Super Troopers tribute mustache and even allow me to take pictures! Over the last two weeks we have been documenting this process:

Stage 1 – The Goatee (still respectable...and cute I might add!)

Stage 2 - The Famed Handlebar Mustache (move over Super Troopers…Cst. Boyd is transferring to Highway Patrol!)

Stage 3 – The Reno 911 Mustache (you tell me if we should have him try out for the sequel to Reno 911…I think Scott is a ringer for the main character...once we get him some short-shorts that is!!!

Goatee, Handlebar Mustache or Regular Mustache I still love you Scott!!!

We stole this idea from Nifty Shop Girl (Holla!) And thought we'd try it out. A good idea is a good idea! Cast You Vote Now:

Ready...Set...BIKE!

It's going to be +13 in Calgary today and, with most of the snow already melted, it looks like today will be great for the first ride of the season!! Yes, it will only be a pathway ride -- but to be able to do this in early March is pretty wicked!

Katie gets home this evening, so Schwartzee and I are just going to head out this afternoon to enjoy the sun on our day off.

Hope you get a chance to be out & active...enjoy!

Happy Birthday, Louise!

Part of the blogging fun is the ability to post "old" pictures of friends. And what better excuse to do so than to help one of your "old" friends celebrate a birthday!
So here's a Boyd Blog Birthday Shout-Out for Louise! Enjoy!!

Happy Birthday!
(ps - thanks for helping find a picture, Sarah!)

No Wine For Me, Please...

On Saturday night we hooked-up with our great friends, Mark & Alicia (Holla!) and went for wicked food @ the Redwater Grill and then for some kick-ass neon bowling (a warm-up for the 2nd Annual Katie Birthday Bowler-Rama in April) And we had some amazing laughs and brilliant conversation.

A Conversation/laugh highlight came as Alicia picked a bottle of wine for the table (great choice, by-the-way!) and the waiter was pouring our glasses & Katie said, "No wine for me, please." Alicia turned her head to the side and looked at Katie - giving her a knowing stare and Katie then followed up with a quirky comment, "Yes, I'm not drinking because I'm pregnant!" It was at this point you could hear a fork drop in the entire restaurant! And after what seemed like enough time to cook a steak to well-done, Katie let her off the hook - "Just jokin'! hee-hee."
For future reference, the look on Alicia's face when you surprise/scare her is rather amusing! Mark held it together rather well - knowing Katie couldn't be pregnant since Scott sleeps in the spare room until October!

Yes, we all laughed. Some more nervous than others - but we all laughed.

Real-Time Television

How great is this? Katie came back to Calgary last night from Burnaby. Scott will be home for the evening. So the two of us will actually get to watch an episode of Grey's Anatomy in "real-time." Yes!! No VCR required!

It may seem like a simple pleasure -- but it never happens with us. So we will enjoy it - even if Grey's is a repeat (which we're pretty sure it is)

So think of us, as we kick back, relax and enjoy a VCR free-evening!
