Time @ Home...

Tonight was first bath at home! Megan loved getting her hair washed - she's sure to want to go to the spa with mom in the future! And she didn't mind the bath at first, but got a little chilled and had enough. Her nails are growing so fast and the mitts or socks we put on her hands never stay on - so she's got some scrapes already. Her hair got all wild after it was washed and dried - so cute!

Katie had a few visitors today (Great Aunt Eve & Maureen) - who helped her ease into her first day with Megan and her alone. But everything went well as they enjoyed their day together. Dad got home and enjoyed some cuddles before dinner!

Last night we had Adam, Roxcie and Sierra over for dinner and a visit. Ed & Christine stopped by and got quality time with both their grand-daughters. Sierra is three months older than her cousin, and they were born at the same size/weight. So many changes in a short time - Megan is sure to catch-up so they can share their playtime together!

We're just enjoying each day with our little girl and really appreciate all the help and attention from friends & family. Thanks for checking-in!

Boyd Baby

We want to welcome Megan Riley Boyd to our family. She was born today and was 6 pounds 9oz and 19 inches long. As you can see, she has a whole head of long red hair. Katie did an amzing job and will be sure to blog about her experience in the next few days. Mom and baby are both well and will likely be coming home tomorrow after some much deserved rest tonight.

She has very long fingers and toes and her nails are already in need of a gentle file.

We just wanted to share a couple of quick photos with everyone.

Baby is On The Way!

Just a quick update. Katie's water broke at home on Saturday night @ 11pm. We went to the Hospital and they monitored her for a few hours, but the contractions were 10 mins apart and not very intense. So they've sent us home.

Katie is back in bed trying to get some rest and if nothing changes, we're to be back @ the hospital for 10am to help induce. VERY EXCITING!!

Happy Birthday Scott!

Another year older and another year wiser...it's something like that right?!

Today is the big 3-5 for Scott and he plans to spend it enjoying himself...breakfast (mmm pancakes), a nice long walk with his wife, and then a relaxing afternoon before a quite dinner at one of his favorite restaurants - ohh romantic!

We spent last night at Katie's parents house for a little birthday dinner with Adam, Roxicie, Damian and Sierra...although there wasn't a birthday cake per se, Scott did have his choice of birthday desserts - cake with strawberries & whipped cream, brownie and what I think was his favorite, lemon bars (including a candle for the birthday boy). Needless to say, we do have some leftover dessert in the fridge for today - I will do my best not to make them my breakfast since it's Scott's birthday after all :)

Although Scott's back in bed taking advantage of what could be one of the last few mornings of rest before officially becoming a dad, this morning started out with some birthday bumps from the baby - it's like he/she knows and wanted to wish dad a happy birthday before anyone else! Of course he also got his birthday present from the two of us before going back to sleep - as if he would have been able to sleep without opening it!

Now for a little birthday trivia- I thought it would be fun to see how much each of you knows about the year Scott was born (1974)!

Bike Art...

We've been slowly adding to our walls in our house. And while we are waiting to find out the gender of our baby bundle so we can decorate his or her room - our focus is currently on the Living Room. We found some very cool vintage biking art that we like. Vintage seems to be very "in" right now - regardless, we like 'em!

They are massive (2'x3' unframed) - and with the tall ceilings in our place, we're hoping we've made the right choices. Here's two of the three pieces we are getting framed. All 3 have the burnt-orange elements, so we think we'll go with that for a 2-inch mat too. We'll let you know how it looks when it's done.

Katie's check-up was good today. Baby and mom are good -- 38.5 weeks and more waiting. But Katie is basically done work now (final office clean-up and last minute follow-up with customers, etc.) Calgary is expected to reach +30 tomorrow - so the weather isn't really cooperating for the pregnant lady, but we'll take it!

Thanks for catching up....

Friday Funny...

With Halloween coming next month - we thought people may need some costume ideas. We're big fans of the classic Cops & Robbers Costumes - But here's a robbery suspect that really stuck to the basics! Click here for video!

UPDATE...
We went for massages and a great dinner on Princess Island Park last night. Everyone thought that Katie's relaxed sate-of-mind may prompt her to go into delivery, but not yet. Today we are at 38 weeks and counting...

The weekend will be pretty easy going. Homework, we're going to see the Movie the "Informant" and some family visiting time. Hope you have a good one too.

The Final Prenatal Class

We had our final prenatal class last night - apparently we are now ready & qualified to have a baby...how crazy is that!

Anyway, the class sure didn't disappoint! Right off the bat we started discussing different diapering options (disposables, one/two piece washables, old school cloth, and the use of a diaper service, etc). Our instructor was just getting into telling us that there is a HUGE market for used cloth/reusable diapers when one of the guys piped up and said "isn't that like me selling my old ginch on eBay? Kind of sick!" We were laughing pretty hard at that point, but the instructors response brought us to tears...all she had to say is that babies are generally really clean and "babies don't have any diseases to worry about like some adults may have." Not sure what she was trying to say about the guy that asked the question, but we think we have a pretty good idea!

The rest of the class had us changing diapers, bathing dolls and reviewing baby safety. We are glad we attended the classes - if anything is was great entertainment for two hours every Wednesday night!

The Fleet

Being that we only have a few more weeks before we become a family of three we thought it was time to show off the fleet...

First we have our new stroller...stylish teal and gray with sunglasses holder (or maybe a baby wipe holder before long?!!!), dual cup holders, one handed fold mechanism, and incredible rack and pinion steering - it turns on a dime!

Next we have our matching car seat (which can't be installed just yet because Katie has to take clients to lunch next week).

No there isn't a kid in there yet, Scott is just practicing :)

And finally..ready, set, go...our cruiser - both running stroller and bike trailer all in one! Although we know you shouldn't have your child in the running/bike stroller until at least 6 months we just couldn't wait! Now we need to talk with out local bike store about ordering us the smallest bike helmet they can find...

Change

Saw this photo and thought it was very fitting. (haha - change room...fitting!) Anyway, we are in the final weeks before our little baby bundle arrives! We've been hanging out with our new niece and she is changing every time we see her too. Last night during our visit, Katie was holding Sierra and our baby was moving lots trying to play with her/his cousin - but we have to be patient...
We are pretty much ready for our baby change to happen. Bag will be packed this weekend and the car seat installed - those are the major things left for us to check off the list. 2 more pre-natal classes - no good stories from last week, but there wasn't any videos either...could be a connection!?!
It's a good thing Katie is going on maternity leave, because there is lots of change at work too. 2 of the 5 people in her office lost their jobs this week. Major Re-Structure. It's bound to change another 4 times before Katie's back to work - so we aren't worrying about it. Did someone forecast the recession was over - because they didn't let the Oil & Gas Sector know...
Other News...
Scott played in a work softball tournament last weekend. 18 teams and his team came 3rd overall. His body is still punishing him - boys will be boys.
Visiting with friends and family is in the plans for this long weekend. It's supposed to stay nice (although it could be a little cooler for the pregnant lady in the house!)
And finally, if you are looking for a great iTunes pick - we have two (2) selections...
1) Colbie Caillat - chick tunes, but Katie catches Scott humming along!
2) Weezer - New single. Back to their old roots and worth a .99 cent listen.
You're up-to-date....come back soon.
