Stampede = Parties!

It's almost time for the Calgary Stampede and the Communities and Businesses are in full swing! We had TWO Stampede Parties booked for today. The weather wasn't great - but no rain while we were out, so we were happy!!  Our first party was @ our Lake. They do such a great job each year - check out the fun we've had in the past. Far less scared of the mascots this year...perhaps she'll help mommy be more brave!

And is it ever too early to have some cotton candy while you take in the action?!?

There were tons of games and Megan was showing off her throwing arm - watch out Baba, I'm gonna be able to play ball with you next month!

Party #2 was @ Grandpas work!  Megan got to "drive" the police car, play with the lights and sirens!  She loved it and we've been reading some books about police officers - so she was quick to point out things she recognized.

Of course there was lots of visiting with Grandpa - Megan thought his ID badge was pretty cool!

And probably the highlight was face painting!  Not only was she excited to sit in the big make-up chair, she got to pick out her colours and design....any guesses?!

She was very interested in all of the process, but sat and waited very patiently!

 A purple Butterfly!

Dad was in the cowboy spirit!

And there's always time for a lesson from Simon the Safety Bear (no, it's not Scott in costume...lol!)

And what would a cloudy day be without a chance to play in the puddles before going home?!  Needless to say, the entire morning tired Megan out and she had a great nap so she can be ready for Cousin Sierra's B-day party tomorrow!!

New Favorite

Hard to believe, but Megan has a change in interests...something that even rivals Princesses!  Bet you would have never guessed it's Spiderman and his Amazing Friends.  That's right - Old School Spider Man Cartoons. Late 70's early 80's.  Out of the blue she asked for us to find it and watch it on Netflix.  We have NO idea where she would have got the request from - but we laugh because now she'd like stickers, birthday party and cake of Spiderman.

Of course, she still has her female favourite - Firestar.  When we play Spiderman - she is always Firestar and mommy or daddy is Spiderman. She even asks for her hair to be down, so she looks more like Firestar.  It's just super cute and we didn't want to miss this major shift in her interest - so we had to blog and share!

The National @ Spruce Meadows

It was a wet weekend in Calgary - but daddy and Megan ventured to Spruce Meadows to take in some horse jumping and related activities. Dressed for the weather and armed with carrots we headed out to have fun!  A "must-do" was a carriage ride around the park - Megan loved being up close with cowboys and horses.

She would have done several laps around the park, if they had let her - she loved that people would wave @ us while we rode around...probably cause it was very Princess like!

And of course there was plenty of horse jumping to watch.

She loved to clap for them as they rode by...but it was difficult to clap while she held an umbrella...so daddy was asked to hold it when the time was right...and not a moment sooner!

And there were plenty of "characters" around the facility to stop and talk with too. Megan enjoyed these two because of their fancy hats!

Plus there was tons of music. Megan has informed dad that she will spin purple flags when she gets older and march with the band.

Open for Business!

Megan woke to a surprise this weekend after her afternoon nap. You may remember PINK CASTLE from a previous post. Well it has been sitting in our living room since April. The deal was, once mom was done with her sewing project, the castle was gone.  And today the project was complete!

Katie did an amazing job putting it together and keeping it a secret from Ms. Megan. Windows on 2 sides, a door on 1 side and just fabric on the back side.

Megan was quick to start "making cupcakes and treats" and giving them out to hungry customers!  She was very happy with her new tree house addition. She ate lunch in it this afternoon and out of the blue she thanked Nana (who bought the fabric when they were here in April) and her mom for all the hard work -- very cute!!

Singing in the rain...

We had some great weather this weekend, but last night a thunder storm rolled past our place. Megan is not one to miss a good puddle stomp...so out she went!
I'm sure the neighbours could hear her singing blocks away!

Mom joined in the fun - she's never one to shy away from puddles either.

Matching jackets...uh huh!  It was the only way for her to buy a raincoat that wasn't purple!
Anyway - the smiles tell the real story...

But every story must come to an end - and in this case, it was kind of a cold ending.
But that's what hot chocolate is for, right?!?
