New Bikes!

Saturday morning we get up, fix the new trees that were bent over from the snow storm and we make our way to Pedal Head Bikes to do some "testing." Turns out Testing means shopping and we found some slick bikes to buy - yeah! The top bike is Katie's -- A Giant Trance 1 : full suspension, XT components, disc brakes -- a sweet brushed paint job and it's a wicked ride. For full specs check this out: http://www.giant-bicycle.com/en-CA/bikes/mountain/737/26795/

The one below is Scott's -- A Brodie Mettle : full suspension, XT components, disc brakes -- a clean and crisp white frame that begs to get dirty! For full specs check this out: http://www.brodiebikes.com/2007/2007_bikes/mettle.php
Anyway - we're off to get in a quick ride in the neighbourhood until the trails dry up a little. Hope you're having fun too!

Hi Scott,
It's Dayna... how are you? Very nice bikes. I am shopping for my first bike. I borrowed a bike from a friend for my first Tri in June, but I have to give it back after the race so I need to buy one.Do you know any web sites to educate myself with.

Hi Dayna! I found a quick article that may help when looking for a new bike: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=271

The best advice we can give is to go into a local bike store find one that you like and seems relaxed (not all about the sale!) and talk to one of the people there -- I'm sure they'll tell you these things too: bike is ALL about how it feels & how it fits you. Ride lots of bikes, you'll be surprised how different some different makes feel.
And you don't have to spend lots of $$ for a quality ride.
Good luck - keep us posted!

I have some advice for Dayna too.. don't get your bike from Canadian Tire for $120.00 (incl taxes). It will suck! Then you will give it to your husband because you absolutely hate Hate HATE it, and it will give you a sore butt. And he won't really like it either because it's not very comfortable, and gives him a sore butt too... well, that's my story and I haven't ridden since.. but if you have a bike that has a front tire that costs more than my whole bike did, then that might be a comfy ride!!!!

Good luck! And, S&K, your bikes look great!
