We discovered a few things that spiked our heart rates. But we also found a few cool things too:
- Of the 191 Teams, there are 30 teams in our racing category (Open Mixed)
- 9 from the USA, 10 from International Countries and 11 from Canada
- There are some serious riders in our category - including the current USA cyclocross national champion!
- People don't pay big bucks to fly from overseas for the race, unless they are good.
- But we also saw a theme that excited us -- people talked a lot about building new friendships and sharing the passion for biking. And that's encouraging for us, after all - we have a blog dedicated to passion, action and crashing!
And encouragement is good on this rainy weekend where we are likely to have to resort to our trainers, yet again, so that we can feel remotely prepared for the 7 day 550km challenge that is only 5 weeks away!!!
So as we begin our chant of: Rain, Rain, go away... we hope you can feel the excitement building with us!

Kates and Scott,
I started at the BC Bike race site before seeing your blog tonight. Looks very good. Since reading your spot I have gone back to read some of the bios--looks like a neat mixture of riders. We are looking forward to seeing you in Cowichan Lake (end of stage 1) then again in PA (end of stage 2). Keep training hard!

Thanks, G&H! After two long days we will definately need some family cheers to keep us going! We were on our trainers again yesterday (Katie was NOT happy!) But the 2 hours went quickly with hill intervals. Our neglected house should get some TLC today - because it is too wet for riding outside again.
I too, read through some of the bios! Looks interesting! There's a couple fom Ft. McMurray (I think) and she talked about having to ride the trainers too & their kids wanted to know why no one else's mommy & daddy ride bikes inside the house! :) Very neat that you get to ride to PA - I'm sure you'll have quite the fan club there! Pretty crummy last couple days here too, but the rain is also welcomed at the same time! It did put our fence building on hold though!
