Scott and I have been talking about building a garage for quite some time, but only recently decided to take the plunge and commit to building one. The construction guys should be back tomorrow or Thursday to pour the pad and then in early January we'll probably move forward with the structure itself.
We were hoping to have the pad in already, but we came up against a bit of a setback when we found out the gas line runs right underneath where the pad was to go and had to be sheathed. Sheathing of the gas line requires ATCO to come out, shut off your gas and dig up your lawn...and then put it all back together of course! If I would have know this, I would have insisted we get the pad put in during the summer...when heat isn't required in the house...cause I sat in the house last night freezing my buns off waiting for ATCO to come a turn the gas back on (lucky for me we aren't short of blankets or hot water bottles!)!!! Oh, hindsight is 20/20!
P.S. When I was talking with the contractor this morning the first thing he asked me was if I could get in touch with my husband! I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he said this because he had been dealing with Scott up until now, but I'm pretty sure he though there was no way I was going to be able to make any technical decisions. I almost challenged him to a differential equation battle - but thought better of it since they still have a long way to go!

Okay, how does one wage a differential equation battle?
We are a bit rusty but we know you really want to.
Are these battles on Pay-Per-View in Calagary? Must be an expensive channel we don't get.
Man those relatives of yours are cheeky :) But yeah - I'm sure we'd all like a front row seat for that one!
It will be nice to have a garage though - did you get left with much yard after this project or was that the sacrifice of not scraping windows in the winter? we had a similar set up in our last house & built a garage (since the one that was there was actually more of a shack - with a new door and opener - go figure). Anyways, dear hubby didn't "CALL BEFORE YOU DIG" when trenching for the underground electrical and lets just say that the phone & cable lines were a little messed up for the night! Glad you didn't blow up Calgary anyways ;) Keep the pictures coming!
How do you wage a battle? Get him to solve y''- 4y'+ 13y = 0 before you do! How else!!!
Cheeky is right!
No, we don't have much yard left, but that's Ok since Scott and I don't spend much time playing out there anyway...but we are looking forward to having somewhere that isn't carpeted to fix the bikes!! Maybe it's time to get new carpet too…sorry Scott, I should have warned you that one reno leads to several others :)
