Sold!

So a little development since our last post! haha.

We've been watching the house market and saw a good opportunity to move-up, since the starter-type home market had leveled. Turns out we were right. We listed last Friday and last Sunday we had 3 offers. Turns out even in this market you can get a bidding war. So we sold above list - yeah!

Conditions cleared yesterday, so we are now able to make it official. We've spent a couple days with our relator looking at new homes and are really happy with the current price point out there. We'll let you know how the process goes...

Katie is now out of the first trimester and feeling good. Still gets nausea, but it's mostly limted to car rides now. She looks awesome!

Hard to believe that April starts next week - we are expecting more snow.

White Stuff

It seems we've been posting lately about colours -- going Green with our Blue cart program. And now the sad realization that it's late March in Calgary and there is still lots more white stuff to come.

We've been tricked the last few days with Spring-like temperatures, birds chirping and gardens sprouting their new growth. And then this morning we woke to 5.5 inches (9cm) of SNOW.

The rail and roof were empty yesterday and now...not so much.

Here's hoping for more colours -- the yellow of the sun; the black of the dry pavement, the brown of our sun scorched grass...the only white I want to see if the frame of my Brodie Mountain bike as I hit the trails in Fish Creek park!

Going Blue...Umm Green!

Calgary is starting a blue cart program and we're pretty excited about it. We've been recycling for a couple of years, but this home-service is expanding what we can recycle. Up until now, we've just been doing paper, cardboard and plastic bags. With the ease of this program we can do all different kinds. Plus no need for us to sort -- we just dump it into on big blue box and what is likely a child labour camp at the City of Calgary will take care of the rest.
Scott took some warming up to the recycling idea a few years ago (after all he did work for MacMillian Bloedel for several years) but he is now embracing the the recycling program in all of its glory! We're sure the Nanaimo Boyds will be thrilled at the new developments too - as it has long been a point of discussion : ) Oh, part of the program is that you can also recycle bottles and cans too...and the City keeps the cash. Ya, right. If you're reading this Mr. Mayor, we'll be keeping those bottles - but thanks for trying. Happy Recycling!

Let the Adventures Begin!

We have some exciting news to announce...we're having a baby!!! Although our little bundle of cuteness isn't due until October 2nd (yes, that is our anniversary!) we thought it was a good time to let you all in on our exciting news.

Some of you may have already guessed, but this is the reason there has been a lack of activity on our blog lately...Katie has been a little sick and totally exhausted (in bed by 7pm and napping twice on weekends) so we haven’t been up to our usual fun. It has been a good chance for Scott to get a lot of homework in though! Katie’s starting to feel better and as long the weather cooperates we could be in for some snowshoeing this weekend!

We guess the "adventure" part of our blog now begins! We’re pretty sure our adventures, biking, climbing, caving, snowboarding, and skiing will pale in comparison to the journey we are about to embark on. Don't think for a second all that fun will stop though - we'll just have another little Boyd to join in on the fun (OK, we may have to change things up a little - I don't think an infant can tie a figure eight knot so climbing might be out of the question!).

Keep checking in with us for Baby Boyd updates!

Sulzer Champion!

We came home tonight after being at Adam & Roxcie's and looking after Chief (who was really good and kinda cute - I forgave him tonight) But that's not the point - before we went to bed I said I wanted to try the Sulzer Game one more time...I hadn't been able to figure out how to beat the last stage.

I don't know if it was the chinese food we had for dinner or the fact that I actually did my homework today and didn't even play a single game all day, or maybe all the planets are aligned tonight, but I started playing and I had total clarity as to how all the pipe should come together. I am now ranked #1 and Katie thinks I'm nuts...but...

I want to thank Katie for all her pump knowledge and encouragement these past few days - I couldn't had been champion of this game without you babe...

OK enough acceptance speech - let's highlight what other Boyd made the top 10. I have been chasing him the past few days, never able to break into the top 10 and then in on swoop -I'm at the top and loving it! Thanks for the challenge, brother - come and get me!

Meow - Hiss!

We are house sitting this week for Adam & Roxcie who are enjoying a week away. Part of the house sitting duties involve making sure "Chief" is being taken care of. So tonight we went by the house to check on things and allow Katie to play with the cat. Well, he was more than grumpy tonight. Mad that we wouldn't let him go outside and whatever other reason cats need to be crazy. Anyway he wouldn't even play with Katie - who loves cats. And Scott, who wants nothing to do with most animals was doped up on allergy meds and went downstairs to make sure Chief had enough food/water and that's when he attacked.

It could be on an episode of "When Animals Attack" or something on the Animal/Planet network - planned and calculated Chief isolated his prey and pounced and lashed out. The details are blurry, but I'm certain it was something like this. Regardless the "scars" of this experience will be with me for life.

All I can say is...the visit ended soon after.

ps - the only reason Katie still isn't laughing about the incident is because she is now asleep.
