Blues Eyes & Curls!

We're back safe & sound! Nice that there wasn't much snow on the ground to come back to - and the weather is bright and sunny here...we just need to work on the tempature!

As we were playing today - Megan's eyes and curls really stood out. Megan is now 5 months old!Thought we'd share some photos for family who haven't seen here in a little while - enjoy!

Scott heads back to work on Monday - things will be busy the next 8 weeks for him there. His boss is retiring, so there's the transition period and likely Scott will be assigned to a new posting - so he's looking forward to the new role. Plus, he'll be away for two weeks in Ottawa for his negotiator training and by May 4th, he'll be finished his Masters!

Oh...and let's not forget Katie's Birthday Bowlerama should be somewhere in April too : )

You are now up-to-date...enjoy the week!

Aloha from the Hula Girl . . .

I managed to steal the computer again - so here's a little update from Megan!

I got my first Hula Outfit and my wobbly legs have helped me learn the dance fast!

It's hard to believe our vacation is almost over - mom and dad say we'll be back in Calgary on the weekend. I am going to miss the beach and all the great walks we've been able to do. Here's me playing with grandma in my half-tent. It's a great place for me to nap int he shade and will be perfect for the summer back at our lake!

My folks have also been enjoying their time here. They went swimming with the Sharks this week! Their photos aren't developed yet - but I searched the Internet and found some photos with the Tour company they went with - North Shore Shark Adventures. They haven't stopped talking about the amazing experience! The were surrounded by 15 sharks in their cage - the biggest was about 14 ft.

I'm sure we'll post more when we get back home.

I also wanted to say Happy Birthday to my Uncle Grant - glad we got to talk with you!

A little of this and a little of that . . .

Just a quick update from the sunny beaches we're playing at. Megan continues her exploration of food . . . sweet potatoes, apple sauce and cereal have all been hits. We tried peas the other day and she couldn't get them out of her mouth fast enough (just like her mom!) So we'll have to revisit those a little later. Here's some more photos of her enjoying her food. Megan has also found her feet, since we've been here - very cool to see the learning taking place Plus, today she rolled over and back again...another first!!

We've also done some field trips the past few days. We came across the Hilton Hotel which is a beautiful site. They have a penguin exhibit which we explored the other day during one of our morning wanders. And today, Katie and Scott went to Pearl Harbor to take in the amazing historical site. It was a great date day and Megan enjoyed her playtime with G&G.

The weather continues to be great, although the past two days have been windy and a little overcast - making for some crazy waves around the Island. Katie and her mom have a shopping trip planned for this weekend - so Scott gets some daddy/daughter time! We'll keep you posted on other developments too...

Surf's Up!

We had our surf lessons today. What great fun! We put Megan down for her first morning nap and Grandma and Grandpa came to look after her. We had a life-time native Hawaiian instructor who was very nice and focused on safety (Thanks for the reference, Lou!)

Scott thought he’d get two water events checked off the list at the same time and chose to wear his prescription snorkel mask – the epitome of surfing style. OK seriously, Scott only brought one pair of glasses and didn’t want to chance wrecking them in the waves, but at the same time needed to see where he was going...so this was the best option. When Katie finally stopped laughing we could start the dry land lesson! Just some quick basics and then we got to hit the water.

Scott had the pleasure of going first and the instructor put him on an easy wave. He did so well that when Katie was up next he totally challenged her. Here’s some quick math...great wave = great wipe out! But she got right back on and did another big wave her 2nd time and rode it all the way to the end!!

Meanwhile, Megan was out with G&G meeting new homeless people and expanding her horizons with people on the beach. Now we can just rent some surf boards and try our new skills during the next 2 weeks we’re here playing on the beach!

Megan's Blog!

Hi Everyone . . .mom and dad are on vacation, so I hi-jacked the computer to let you know what I've been up to in Hawaii!

We've been busy! But I found out I still need to eat and sleep while on vacation. Here's a photo of me doing both at the same time...so we can hurry up and have more fun!!

Speaking of food . . .I got to try some cereal! As you can tell from the photo, it was yummy good!

My folks took me to the zoo this week -- I saw elephants and cried. I saw monkeys and cried. I saw hippos and cried. I saw birds and, well, you get the picture. I had a rough day, what can I say?! Good thing I'm little and was a free entry into the Zoo...at least that's what I heard mommy and daddy say.

Believe it or not, my parents have also have a life while in the Aloha State. Today they hiked to the top of Diamond Head with grandpa. I don't think they wanted to carry my 15lbs up the stairs and hills in the heat. They took some photos for me, so it was kinda like I was there too. PLUS, while they were away I got to play with grandma!

Anyway, mommy and daddy took me to a nice place for dinner tonight and I was on my best behaviour for them. I played happily in my Bumbo and fell asleep on the walk home. I'm told there is much more fun and photos to come...surfing lessons, swimming with the sharks, dinner cruise show and more. I'm also pretty sure there will be a few naps for me in there too.

Hope you liked my update - maybe I should get my OWN Blog?! ~ Megan xo.

Sand!

OK - time to come clean as to why we are in Hawaii for the month of February . . .Scott is applying for the Honolulu Police Department and needed 3 weeks to get all the tests done! Who wouldn't like to have this view each day you go to work....hahaha!

Anyway, we were up early again and hit the beach! It was already in the high 20's by 10am, so a swim was definitely in order. We also gave Megan her first feel of sand -- no freak outs! She enjoyed curling her toes in the cool depths of the sand and was content to watch people walking by. Grandpa took her down by the water and she wasn't as happy about the wet sand or the waves lapping onto the beach, but still a success!

Megan played with Grandma in the shade for most of the morning, as we swam and took in the rays. We had a great walk along the Ocean path and explored a few of the other hotels in the area. Tonight is a date night for us, so we are in the process of putting down our little girl for bed and G&G will read their books on our patio while looking after her.

Sorry to hear about the snow for our East Coast bloggers - we're sending warm thoughts!

Aloha!

Yeah - holiday mode! We had a great trip - Megan is an excellent traveller (thankfully!) We also have to thank to the American Airlines Ticket Agent in Calgary - she pulled us from the back of the line and gave us some excellent service (and deal) - and Megan wasn't even crying! Anyway she reserved Meg a seat for our flights for the low fare of $12.77 - crazy but true! So here's Megan looking like a big girl on her flight from LA to Hawaii...we enjoyed the extra room!

She slept pretty much the entire 6 hour flight...only downside was we arrived at our hotel @ midnight and Ms. Megan was up for the day @ 4am. Ugh! But we woke up in Hawaii, so how bad can it actually be, right?!

We went over to Ma & Pa Lee's condo @ 7am and took in the sunrise and then took a short walk for some breakfast. The rest of the day has been fun exploring, walking, getting some groceries and enjoying the tempature and sunshine.

Anyway..nap time, homework time and blog time...post photos soon!
