We had our surf lessons today. What great fun! We put Megan down for her first morning nap and Grandma and Grandpa came to look after her. We had a life-time native Hawaiian instructor who was very nice and focused on safety (Thanks for the reference, Lou!)
Scott thought he’d get two water events checked off the list at the same time and chose to wear his prescription snorkel mask – the epitome of surfing style. OK seriously, Scott only brought one pair of glasses and didn’t want to chance wrecking them in the waves, but at the same time needed to see where he was going...so this was the best option. When Katie finally stopped laughing we could start the dry land lesson! Just some quick basics and then we got to hit the water.
Scott had the pleasure of going first and the instructor put him on an easy wave. He did so well that when Katie was up next he totally challenged her. Here’s some quick math...great wave = great wipe out! But she got right back on and did another big wave her 2nd time and rode it all the way to the end!!
Meanwhile, Megan was out with G&G meeting new homeless people and expanding her horizons with people on the beach. Now we can just rent some surf boards and try our new skills during the next 2 weeks we’re here playing on the beach!

Looks like you got the hang of it! Good to see you're well protected with rashguards etc! Have fun :)
Aloha!
The picture of you wearing the prescription snorkel mask on the surf board is priceless Scotty!!!
I do believe Katie has better form on the board -- atta girl!!! But great work catching the waves.
For your next challenge... I would like to see one of you surfing while wearing the baby carrier and giving Megan the ride of her life!!! That would be fun!
Sorry to hear you were a little freaked out at the zoo Megan... but it sounds like you're having a blast overall!!
Great updates!!! Keep caking on the sunblock lotion!
