Abstract Art!

We managed some sun this weekend and Megan took advantage of it with some painting!

She loves to be outside and loves her paint - so this combo was a sure-fire hit!

Mommy gives her lots of different "tools" to use and Megan loves the textures they can make.

But really...does anything beat your own hands?!?  We don't think so!

Not for sale...LOL.

Catch-up & May Long Weekend

A little bit of a mix blog for you - life is busy and we don't always get all the photos on that we'd like...so enjoy the catch-up!

Mommy bought a vacuum sealer and a new bullet mixer...together they equal yummy fruit smoothies for the family!

We celebrated Mother's Day with breakfast in bed and "surprised" her with an edible arrangement. It's a tradition in our house for Katie to get one of these (because Megan loves chocolate covered fruit!) so that's why it's not a surprise...but Mom loves it just the same!

And Megan did her share of eating the chocolate covered fruit!!

Katie and Scott met a few May long weekends ago - so it holds a special place for us...and we celebrated as a family...making puzzles...

We explored the outdoors @ Fish Creek Park...

We saw lots of birds, both big & small.

We went for walks and told stories.

We found new paths and kept saying, "hurry up guys!"

We climbed on logs and took time for photo ops!

We found "flowers" and walking sticks to make our adventure memorable!

We played in the back green space with our neighbourhood friends...and collected "flowers" for mommy!

We took breaks to reflect on a long weekend...

And we followed the big kids around as much as possible!  Another great May long weekend with the Boyd Family - hope you made some memories too!

Country Cousins...

We headed East this morning for a visit @ R&A Acres...and a great visit with Megan's cousins! It was Reid's first birthday, so we brought bubble gifts for the girls to play with so they wouldn't feel left out during the presents...it worked like a charm...thanks $1 Wal-mart gifts!

The girls have so much fun together - running, laughing and talking to each other.

Oh and don't forget the hugs and kisses!  Sierra has a new fort/swing set and they loved to climb into the fort and play with their babies.

Of course, there are the animals too!  Megan LOVED her horse "ride" and feeding them apples.

We had a very nice visit and it's fun to see the girls get along so well together!

Elephants, Horses and Protesters...Oh My!

The Circus was in town, so we took Megan. She loves the story of Dumbo and when she found out what we had planned for today - she was excited! I believe the exact words were, "Oh my goodness, oh my goodness!"

And what would the circus be without a group of animal right activists? Anyway - they were content to wave their placards, chant a few rhymes, grab a hot dog from the concession stand and leave.  All good.

 The Big Top!

And what would a trip to the circus be without treats?!?

Megan knew cotton candy by name - not sure how, since this was her first taste of it? But she liked it!

It was a mix of animal shows and daredevils. The ringmaster introduced this group as "Fun for the whole family"  We're guessing the biker chick wearing ass-less chaps was aimed at a certain gender group within the whole family.  Just saying.

Megan was intense and very appreciative of each of the acts - very cute!

These ponies were a big favourite. And when the lights turned her favourite colour and she turned and said, "Look Purple Ponies, Mommy! We're thinking it didn't get any better!

Oh, did we mention she danced in the aisle for most of the show...shocking?!  Not!
She did take a break when the music stopped.

We had a blast and were happy we had the chance to show Megan the excitement that comes with a circus. We read Dumbo tonight at bed time...can't imagine what she'll dream about...

CUTE

The shirt really says it all!

And a BIG THANKS to Uncle Grant for figuring out that you can also spell Princess in the Periodic Table of the Elements too...

Puppy!

How many of you actually thought Scott had caved and allowed Megan to get a puppy?!?  Sadly this blog is just about a visit to Katie's work to visit a puppy there!  She loved 'Nikki' and brought her own Weiner dog along, just in case!
Megan thought it was amazing that if she called Nikki she would come over to her upon request!
Good doggie!
It didn't take long for them to become good friends...despite the fact that it appears Nikki is pulling away in this photo!
